Eastmont Announces Affiliation

Eastmont latest to join Bellevue, Washington not-for-profit in its mission to challenge the perception of aging

October 4, 2017 – Lincoln, NE - Today, Eastmont, announced its recent affiliation with Transforming Age, a Bellevue, Washington based not-for-profit organization with expertise in senior housing, business services, consumer services, technology, and philanthropy.  The affiliation will help both organizations enhance their ability to grow their collective impact and transform the perception of age.

As the not-for-profit senior living industry continues to evolve in order to adapt to the changing needs of an aging population, including a growing influx of baby boomers who have a different idea of aging than their parents, mergers and affiliations in the industry are becoming increasingly common.

“This is the right decision for our employees, our residents, families, and our community,” said Carol Ernst, Executive Director of Eastmont. “We are excited to join forces with Transforming Age so we can secure the long-term sustainability of our mission and reinforce our efforts to serve older adults.”

Transforming Age has a proven history of affiliating with other senior service organizations, including the recent addition of Full Life, a Home Care and Adult Day Health provider in Seattle. Like previous affiliations, Eastmont will retain its name, its separate 501 c (3) distinction, while allowing it to maintain its rich culture, history, and mission – supporting its ability to provide comprehensive senior living and exceptional health care while giving charitable service to others.

“We are excited to partner with like-minded organizations that are committed to the shared values of serving seniors,” said Torsten Hirche, CEO of Transforming Age. “Many stand-alone communities across the country are being absorbed by for-profit institutions, but we are invested in securing the future of shared mission–focused values with like-minded not-for-profit partners.”

The affiliation comes at a time when Eastmont is planning to expand its services with a new community, Prairie Ridge by Eastmont – a contemporary senior living campus. The new community is scheduled to open in 2021 and will include access to a wide range of senior housing and service options.

When asked if a Seattle-area company would align well with the culture and values of Eastmont, Ernst said, “Actually, Transforming Age has more residents and employees in the Midwest now than they do in Seattle. We’ve been encouraged by the success in Minnesota as those communities have thrived as a part of the Transforming Age family and culture.”

“In joining forces, we become stronger together and increase the relevance of the not-for-profit approach to serving seniors,” explained Hirche. "We have big goals and a big vision.  And we are excited to have dynamic organizations like Eastmont join that mission.”
